Why?
Because when we try to put something like writing into a box following a specific formula it feels stuffy and robotic.
But if we don’t follow any rules then how do we know if we are actually writing anything good?
And what if we get stuck and don’t know what to write?
Even if we do follow all the rules, how can we know if we are writing something that people actually want to read and we’re not just wasting our time?
See, I’m a person who needs an order to things, a pattern, something that follows a path that makes sense, in order for something to work for me, but I also don't like being put in a box that tells me I have to do things exactly like I'm supposed to.
I like to be creative and let God tell me what to write.
Which is why on this channel, we don’t talk about the traditional rules of writing.
We talk about the pattern – the order – of storytelling found in the Bible.
How our whole lives are intertwined with story and how it affects us on a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual level.
Story opens our hearts and our minds and gets us to take action. It opens us up to trust, shuts down the analytical part of our brain that doubts, and fires up our love receptors.
God literally made story a part of the fabric of our being and it is shown clear as day in the Bible.
In fact, Jesus was the ultimate storyteller. He was the author and finisher of our faith and he led tons of people to salvation simply by meeting them where they were with a story.
Which is why I believe in using the pattern of story found in the Bible to show you the "secret sauce" to writing amazing stories.
Let me ask you a question:
It's okay if you have your doubts right now... most writers don’t know how to answer this question. And if you don’t know either, you’re in the right place.
My name is Dawn and I don’t just teach you how to write.
